In recent years, artificial intelligence has emerged as one of the key drivers of global economic and social development. Leading countries view artificial intelligence, alongside advanced digital technologies, as a strategic factor for strengthening national competitiveness and developing human capital. In Uzbekistan, the effective integration of artificial intelligence into digital transformation processes has been identified as a priority area of state policy.

In this context, the “5 Million Artificial Intelligence Leaders” initiative was launched on November 28, 2025, during an international artificial intelligence forum, with the participation of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
On January 29, a student forum under the “5 Million Artificial Intelligence Leaders” initiative was held at Muhammad al-Khwarizmi Tashkent University of Information Technologies. The forum was organized to actively involve students and young people in the initiative, promote the President’s strategic vision among youth, and officially launch the “student caravan” of the project.
The initiative aims to provide artificial intelligence training by 2030 to 4.75 million schoolchildren and students, 150,000 teachers, and 100,000 civil servants. The project is focused on strengthening digital competencies, promoting innovative thinking, and developing a highly qualified professional reserve.
The forum brought together the Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov, representatives of the Artificial Intelligence Alliance, the Center for the Development of Digital Education, academic staff, and approximately one thousand students and young professionals.
Within the framework of the event, the Minister of Digital Technologies reviewed artificial intelligence–based developments, startup projects, and modern digital solutions created by students and young innovators. The presented projects were positively assessed for their initiative, applied relevance, and innovative approach. A number of practical recommendations were provided regarding further refinement, implementation, and commercialization of these developments.
The forum serves as an effective platform for engaging young people as active participants and initiators within the “5 Million Artificial Intelligence Leaders” initiative, enabling the realization of their scientific, technological, and innovative potential.
During the forum, Tashkent University of Information Technologies officially joined the Artificial Intelligence Alliance. This status enables the university to participate in international initiatives, programs, and projects of the Alliance, as well as to contribute to the development and implementation of artificial intelligence solutions.
In addition, an opening ceremony was held for a new FinTech laboratory established in cooperation with Aloqabank. The laboratory is intended to support early-stage developments of young startup teams and serve as a practical platform for launching fintech projects.
For reference, the “5 Million Artificial Intelligence Leaders” initiative envisages large-scale training in artificial intelligence for schoolchildren, students, educators, and public sector employees by 2030, with the objective of strengthening the country’s human capital and accelerating digital transformation processes.
