Uzbekistan Conducts First-Ever Demonstration of Satellite Messaging to Mobile Devices via Viasat Satellite

During the meeting, the parties discussed satellite communication in Uzbekistan, expanding internet coverage to remote areas, and the further development of the telecommunications infrastructure.
For the first time in Uzbekistan, the exchange of satellite-enabled messages directly with a mobile communication terminal via Viasat's satellite was demonstrated as a D2D test. The features and technical specifications of D2D technology were discussed in detail.
The parties exchanged views on the possibility of implementing pilot projects in the country, launching testing in certain regions, and later expanding these solutions on a national scale.
The importance of implementing projects under the leadership of the ministry in cooperation with national operators and local companies was also noted.
During the meeting, Viasat also discussed supporting future sovereign satellite solutions for Uzbekistan. Representatives of the company noted that such a project will bring Uzbekistan into the ranks of countries in the field of space technologies, as well as covering not only the territory of the country, but also neighboring regions.
At the same time, Viasat offers integrated solutions with its global satellite network, ensuring the uninterrupted operation of terminals and devices in different countries.
Company representatives emphasized the high reliability of these technologies and their implementation in full compliance with national security and regulatory requirements.
Following the negotiations, the parties expressed interest in further expanding cooperation in the field of digital infrastructure, satellite technologies, and innovative telecommunications services.
