Uzbekistan and Finland’s Elisa Discuss Cooperation in 5G and Artificial Intelligence Technologies

Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov held a meeting with Andrei Nahkala, Vice President of Elisa, one of Finland’s leading providers of telecommunications and digital services.

During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation in the development of telecommunications infrastructure, the wider deployment of 5G technologies, digital services and advanced telecommunications solutions powered by artificial intelligence.
Particular attention was given to the automation of telecom networks, enhancing network management efficiency through artificial intelligence, fraud prevention and the modernization of digital infrastructure.
The parties also explored opportunities to develop a regional telecommunications and digital technologies hub by leveraging the growing potential of Uzbekistan’s IT talent pool.
The discussions further covered the implementation of digital technologies in industrial IoT solutions, smart infrastructure, data centers and logistics, as well as prospects for expanding fiber-optic and 5G infrastructure across Central Asia.
Minister Sherzod Shermatov noted that the introduction of advanced technologies and the development of modern digital infrastructure are among Uzbekistan’s key priorities in strengthening the country’s competitiveness and accelerating digital transformation.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed interest in expanding cooperation, exchanging expertise and implementing joint initiatives in the fields of telecommunications, digital infrastructure and artificial intelligence technologies.
