Uzbekistan and Omnitele Discuss Development of Telecommunications Infrastructure

During the meeting, the parties reviewed issues related to the expansion of broadband internet networks, the introduction of 5G technologies and the modernization of telecommunications infrastructure across the country.
Particular attention was given to mobile network planning and optimization, the use of data-driven analytical tools and the effective planning of investments in the telecommunications sector.
The discussions also covered international initiatives aimed at strengthening digital connectivity in Central Asia, including opportunities for cooperation within the framework of the Connectivity for Central Asia (C4CA) project supported by the European Union.
The parties exchanged views on further expanding mobile network coverage, accelerating the deployment of fiber-optic infrastructure and increasing public access to affordable, high-quality internet services.
Minister Sherzod Shermatov emphasized that enhancing competition in the telecommunications sector, developing modern infrastructure and ensuring access to affordable and high-quality communication services remain among Uzbekistan’s key priorities in advancing the country’s digital transformation agenda.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed interest in continuing cooperation on telecommunications infrastructure development, expanding regional digital connectivity and implementing promising international projects in the sector.
