GAP” Women’s IT Club Expands Opportunities for Women in Technology and Digital Innovation

The event served as a platform for knowledge-sharing, professional development, and networking, highlighting opportunities for women in digital technologies, education, and innovation.
Participants received detailed information on application procedures for international educational grants, prestigious scholarship programs, and the Zulfiya State Prize. The event also featured a presentation of the new Sabriya initiative aimed at supporting women’s professional growth and participation in the digital economy.
This initiative contributes to increasing women’s representation in the IT sector, strengthening digital skills, encouraging participation in technology startups and scientific research, and promoting Uzbekistan’s technological potential on the international stage.
Throughout the event, industry experts, representatives of government institutions, and graduates of leading international universities shared their experiences and insights, encouraging women to pursue professional growth and leadership opportunities in technology.
Opening the event, Advisor to the Minister of Digital Technologies Kamola Sobirova emphasized that the growing role of women in the IT sector is becoming an important factor not only for social development but also for economic growth and stability.
> “Our main goal is to help Uzbek women establish themselves in the world of modern technologies and provide them with access to global educational opportunities. Today’s seminar has further strengthened the confidence of our girls in pursuing international grants and state awards,” she said.
During the event, Jahongir Akbarov, Head of the Department for the Development of Inclusive Projects and Women’s Entrepreneurship, presented the newly launched Sabriya project and outlined its objectives and planned activities.
The second part of the seminar focused on international and national educational opportunities. Representatives of the El-Yurt Umidi Foundation provided information on the latest requirements for overseas study grants, while scholarship recipient Zhanonakhon Berdieva, a graduate of University of Reading, shared her experience of studying abroad, preparing applications, and pursuing personal and professional development.
Participants also received guidance on applying for the Zulfiya State Prize from representatives of the Women’s Committee. One of the youngest recipients of the award in 2026, Sevinch Mavlonova, a student at New Uzbekistan University, shared practical advice on pursuing studies in information technology and outlined key factors that contributed to her success.
The event concluded with an interactive session, during which active participants were recognized with commemorative awards.
The activities of the “GAP” Women’s IT Club are being actively expanded not only in Tashkent but also across the regions of Uzbekistan. Regular meetings, educational programs, and networking events are being organized nationwide, while active women from each region are being engaged as community leaders.
These efforts are helping to increase women’s interest in digital technologies, strengthen professional and leadership skills, facilitate the exchange of experience, and build a national community of women contributing to Uzbekistan’s digital transformation.
