As part of ICT Week Uzbekistan 2026, a meeting was held between Sherzod Shermatov, Minister of Digital Technologies, and Wang Hongbin, Executive Director and President of APT Satellite Company Limited (APSTAR).

The meeting focused on the development of satellite communications, the improvement of telecommunications infrastructure, and the expansion of cooperation in Central Asia.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for developing the satellite communications market in Uzbekistan, APT Satellite’s business plans in the country, as well as opportunities to utilize the company’s existing and future satellite resources to support the development of Uzbekistan’s telecommunications infrastructure.

One of the key outcomes of the meeting was the signing of a Cooperation Agreement between APT Satellite and UZ-SAT in the presence of the Minister of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The agreement is aimed at developing practical cooperation between the parties and expanding collaboration in the fields of satellite communications and digital infrastructure.

Particular attention was given to the ongoing cooperation between APT Satellite and UZ-SAT, as well as to further areas of collaboration. The parties discussed opportunities to utilize APT’s satellite resources to provide satellite communications services, broadband Internet access, television and radio broadcasting, as well as other telecommunications and digital services.

Representatives of APT Satellite also presented the company’s plans for the further development of its satellite fleet and the launch of new satellites incorporating advanced technologies. The development of satellite resources is expected to expand satellite connectivity capabilities and improve the quality of services provided across Central Asia.

The discussions also included an exchange of views on the further development of satellite infrastructure in the region, the expansion of international connectivity, and potential joint projects between APT Satellite, UZ-SAT, and Uzbek stakeholders.

The participation of the Minister of Digital Technologies in the meeting and the signing of the Cooperation Agreement in his presence underscore the importance of international cooperation in satellite technologies and the development of Uzbekistan’s digital infrastructure.

The meeting marked the first visit of APT Satellite’s senior management to Tashkent and took place as part of ICT Week Uzbekistan 2026.
