Uzbekistan Talks AI Cooperation with Intel Vice President in USA

On August 13, 2024, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, reviewed a presentation outlining measures to advance start-up projects in artificial intelligence (AI) and IT. The presentation included planned developments in AI technologies in key sectors, including healthcare, agriculture, banking, taxation, and customs.
In support of these initiatives, Minister of Digital Technologies, Sherzod Shermatov, held a meeting with Anil Nanduri, Vice President in the New Technology Group at Intel Corporation, during his business trip to the USA. The meeting focused on the rapid adoption of AI technologies, their application in medicine and education, and Intel’s current and future strategies in these areas.
Minister Shermatov highlighted the central role of AI technologies in Uzbekistan's digital transformation strategy. He also provided an update on the construction of a green data center in collaboration with Saudi Arabia's DataVolt, as well as Uzbekistan's broader AI strategy.
Discussions touched on the benefits available to foreign IT companies with resident status in Uzbekistan's IT Park, and plans to implement AI in various sectors. The parties explored potential cooperation in AI and infrastructure projects, as well as opportunities related to data centers.
At the end of the meeting, both sides agreed to cooperate on educational and research projects in the field of AI, as well as on the implementation of high-tech solutions in Uzbekistan within the framework of long-term cooperation with Intel.
