The meeting focused on preparations for hosting the International Astronautical Congress in Samarkand in 2028, including ensuring the event is organized to the highest international standards, making effective use of international best practices, and further enhancing the congress’s profile within the global space community.

Clay Mowry highly appreciated the selection of Samarkand as the host city for IAC-2028 and expressed AIAA’s readiness to support Uzbekistan in organizing the event and attracting international participants.

The parties also discussed opportunities to engage the US and broader international aerospace community in the Samarkand congress, as well as to promote IAC-2028 through AIAA’s conferences, communication channels, and industry publications.

Particular attention was paid to developing Uzbekistan’s local aerospace community. In this regard, the sides explored opportunities to establish a local AIAA section in Uzbekistan and engage university students and young professionals in international aerospace competitions and projects.

The meeting also covered the involvement of Uzbek specialists in AIAA’s technical committees, capacity building in aerospace engineering, and the expansion of international professional networks and cooperation opportunities for specialists in Uzbekistan.
