In Tokyo, Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov met with Saiichiro Murakami, Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications of Japan, to discuss further development of bilateral cooperation in the field of digital technologies and communications.

During the meeting, it was noted that the current level of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan in the communications sector has reached an all-time high. Both sides exchanged views on advancing collaboration and identifying new areas of joint activity.

Minister Shermatov highlighted the strategic importance of opening an IT Park Uzbekistan representative office in Tokyo. This initiative is expected to facilitate direct engagement with Japanese companies and strengthen cooperation in the information technology sector.

The Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) expressed strong support for further enhancing bilateral cooperation and confirmed its readiness to back ongoing and future initiatives.

At the conclusion of the meeting, an official invitation was extended to participate in the UN Public Service Forum – 2025, scheduled to take place in Samarkand from June 23 to 25, as well as in ICT WEEK 2025, Uzbekistan’s flagship digital event, to be held in Tashkent from September 23 to 26. Both sides expressed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral cooperation through a range of joint initiatives.
