“Orientation Week” Launches at Cyber University in Uzbekistan

Cyber University was established in accordance with the Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated January 20, 2025. Its primary goal is to train competitive specialists in the field of cybersecurity for the global labor market.
Speaking at the opening event, Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov emphasized the strategic importance of cybersecurity at both the national and international levels:
“Today, cybersecurity is gaining strategic importance not only for Uzbekistan, but also for the whole world. We believe that Cyber University will play an important role in training highly qualified specialists not only for our country, but also for the region, and in the future will become an important university in shaping the youth of Uzbekistan as competitive specialists in the international arena,” said Minister Shermatov.
Representatives of the Global and Online Education Center of the Faculty of Engineering of Stanford University and Xidian University (China) also congratulated the students of Cyber University on the start of the academic year, wished them success, and expressed readiness to expand cooperation in the future.
For reference: Memorandums of Understanding have been signed with the Global and Online Education Center of the Faculty of Engineering of Stanford University and Xidian University.
The educational process at Cyber University is organized based on programs that meet international standards. Classes are conducted in Uzbek and English and include preparation for internationally recognized certificates such as CompTIA, CEH, OSCP. Theoretical training is complemented by practical exercises conducted at a dedicated cyber range.
Cyber University provides training in the following areas:
– Cybersecurity engineering (system and network security, IoT security);
– Computer engineering (artificial intelligence);
– Software engineering (applied mathematics and algorithms);
– Jurisprudence (cyber law, digital forensics);
– Economics (digital economy);
– Management (cybersecurity management).
In the 2025–2026 academic year, more than 1,200 students were admitted to Cyber University. Of these, 800 were enrolled in the full-time bachelor’s program (100 on a grant basis, 700 on a contract basis), 390 were admitted to distance learning, and 24 out of 50 master’s degree quotas were filled.
This year, more than 16,000 applicants applied to the university, with an average of nine applicants per place in the competition.
Cyber University is equipped with a modern 17-story student dormitory (806 places), sports complexes, a cafeteria, and high-tech scientific laboratories.
