Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov held a meeting with Ilkka Räihäisinen, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Finland to Uzbekistan.
At the beginning of the meeting, a presentation was delivered on the large-scale work carried out by IT Park Uzbekistan, future plans, and progress achieved in IT service exports. The discussion also addressed measures to further expand these exports. A video presentation demonstrated Finland’s experience in identification systems and their role in advancing digital transformation.
The talks focused on prospects for bilateral cooperation, with particular attention to digital connectivity policies in Finland and Central Asia, improvements to regulatory frameworks, and the strengthening of ties with European partners, including Finland, France, and the Baltic states.
Minister Shermatov emphasized Uzbekistan’s commitment to expanding cooperation not only with Asian partners such as Japan, Korea, China, and Saudi Arabia, whose companies are already becoming residents of IT Park but also with European countries.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of creating quality jobs for young people, expanding opportunities in the IT sector, and broadening the geography of IT service exports. In this context, the parties exchanged views on attracting Finnish companies to Uzbekistan, deepening investment cooperation, and effectively utilizing the embassy’s role in these processes.
